Butter sold in seven states recalled because of coliform contamination

AGRI-MARK INC of Waitsfield, VT, is recalling 189 cases of Cabot Creamery 8oz Extra Creamy Premium Butter, Sea Salted, because of elevated levels of coliform bacteria.

The product was distributed to retail stores in Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania, Maine, Connecticut, New Hampshire and Arkansas.

The recall was initiated on March 26, 2025, and is ongoing, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is classified as a Class III recall, indicating a low risk of adverse health effects.

Cabot Creamery 8oz Extra Creamy Premium Butter, Sea Salted, packaged as (2) 4oz sticks in cardboard shells

Product Quantity: 189 cases (1,701 lbs)

Consumers and businesses should not consume, sell or distribute the recalled butter and are urged to check their inventories for the affected lot number and best-by date.
