Canadian food safety officials have issued a recall for certain packaged steaks and carnitas because of pieces of wood in the products, which are sold at Walmart.
According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, M&M Food Market brand Brazilian Style Picanha Steaks and Marc Angelo brand Carnitas are subject to the recall.
The agency’s recall notice did not say how the contamination was found or whether any injuries have been reported.
The recalled products were distributed to retailers nationwide in Canada.
Consumers can use the following label information to determine whether they have the recalled products in their homes.
M&M Food Market brand Brazilian Style Picanha Steaks in 400-gram packages with codes of 0595 or 0625 and a UPC number of 6 61815 02315 0.
Marc Angelo brand Carnitas in 800-gram packages with a UPC number of 6 27907 10992 8 and one of the following codes: BEST BEFORE 2025 MR 26, 2025 MR 30, 2025 MR 31, 2025 AL 01, 2025 AL 02, 2025 AL 05, 2025 AL 06, 2025 AL 09, 2025 AL 12, 2025 AL 13, 2025 AL 15, 2025 AL 16, 2025 AL 19, 2025 AL 20, 2025 AL 21, 2025 AL 22, 2025 AL 23, 2025 AL 26, 2025 AL 27
Consumers who have the recalled products in their homes are urged not to eat them and to throw them away.
